Blogging Behind the Scenes: Balancing Self-Employment and Personal Challenges
I have taken up a challenge to blog consistently for 30 days. This challenge is being hosted by Sarah Arrow, an expert in her field. This is about the sixth time I’m taking part in this challenge. And, today I’m supposed to write a behind-the-scenes blog post, which is challenging because I work for myself.
There are three core things I do:
I am the host of The One Problem podcast:
Guests present a problem, then have six minutes to offer a solution. It’s microlearning, and we learn from each other’s experiences. Before I go live, I talk to the guests, and it’s a way to make everyone feel comfortable. There have been a couple of instances where I’ve asked people to redo the podcast. In one instance, the guest saw an expression on my face and said, “I’m not giving you what you need, am I?” So we did a do-over. And the episode was a great one.
I teach leadership reading:
My mother died unexpectedly from a heart attack in 2012. And to heal my broken heart, I did something that I love. Reading was the clear and unquestionable choice. I created a read-the-world challenge for myself. Whenever I read nonfiction, I had an eerie sense of déjà vu. Haven’t I read this before…
