Leveling Up vs. Staying Stagnant: Changing How You Apply Knowledge

In a YouTube video, Entrepreneur Dan Henry shared how four specific books helped him generate over $30 million in revenue by applying the knowledge they contained. I had already read two of those four books, yet I hadn’t made millions. That got me thinking, why is that?

I pride myself on being reflective and regularly applying what I read to my work. So, I analyzed why my application of the knowledge hadn’t yielded the same results. The answer I came up with was this: I hadn’t been thinking and acting at the level of a successful entrepreneur or a millionaire. And that’s something I need to change to level up in my career.

The Importance of Self-Improvement

While reflecting on my current mindset, I remembered a book I read a while back, Rich Habits by Thomas Corley. In this book, Corley outlines the 10 habits of rich people, and two of them I’ll mention here.

  1. Rich people set aside time every day for self-improvement.
  2. They engage in rich thinking.

The first habit is something I practice regularly, but the second one is what I realized I need to focus on more. Rich thinking is about adopting an optimistic, enthusiastic mindset, and cultivating a growth-oriented way of seeing the world…
